| i have a question for everyone. and more importantly than the question, or your answers, an opinion.
has anyone here thought about the affects of such dramatic spikes in the prices of gasoline? oh you havent? well, let me tell you a little something about what's going to happen in the near future.
a second great depression. that's right folks, we aren't far away from that dreaded event happening again. what causes a depression, and why are we close to one, you ask? im glad you asked. you see, not too long ago gas was going from about $1.50 a gallon to $1.75 a gallon. (in the DFW area)somewhere in that ballpark at least. well, today i busted my butt only to get gas for a startling $2.99 per gallon. and that was "cheap." i'm not sure what the actual average pricer per gallon of unleaded is here in the dallas area, but its gotta be around $3.09. for those of you that aren't aware, that is nearly double what it was roughly a year ago. ok, so other than driving sucks now, what does this mean? it means that a dollar isn't worth as much now. how? because we rely on the transport via planes, trains and automobiles (semi trucks) for many of the goods that we use on a daily basis. how do these vehicles move? various forms of gas. gas prices are up now. high. what does this mean to you and i? everything we buy is or will soon be more expensive than it was, thus causing the dollar to be worth "less" than it was just 12 months ago.
the point of all that was to tell you that the dollar is going down in value as compared to the goods we use and abuse daily. point in case, the economy will soon be busted, and black fridayvolume II isn't too far away.
why do i tell you this? do i have the answer for this problem? in all reality, no, i do not. i don't know how to fix a situation that is this far gone, and hurricane katrina hasn't made it any easier. however, we can't blame all the problems on her. this gradual rise in fuel prices was going on months before hurricane katrina existed or hit.
so, get ready to start selling fruit in the streets and begging the rich for crumbs, 'cause we gotta survive somehow.
just a thought. |
